Prashanth Katrapati, M.D., a cardiologist who is fellowship trained in interventional cardiology, has joined Providence Medical Group Cardiology, Kansas City, Kan. His office is conveniently located on the Providence Medical Center campus at 8919 Parallel Parkway, Suite 580, 913-596-7224. Other cardiologists with the group include Donald J. McSweyn, M.D., MBA, FACP, FACC, FSCAI, and Venkat R. Pasnoori, M.D., MPH, FACC.
Providence Medical Center was recently named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention in 2015 by Healthgrades. It was the only hospital to earn this honor in Kansas and the Kansas City metro area. Healthgrades also designated Providence a five star hospital in the treatment of heart attacks.
Dr. Katrapati’s expertise is in coronary, peripheral and structural heart intervention. He will use cutting-edge technology and his skills to complement the cardiovascular services Providence offers. “My goal is to provide exceptional, compassionate and personalized care to the residents of Wyandotte County and the surrounding communities,” Dr. Katrapati says.
Dr. Katrapati recently completed fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich., where he also served as chief fellow. During his fellowship, he was involved in clinical research focusing on optimal treatments for patients with heart attacks. He also has presented at regional and national conferences.
He performed a residency in internal medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western, Cleveland, Ohio. He also served as chief resident and clinical instructor in medicine there. He earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio, and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Foundation for his compassionate care. His undergraduate degree is in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan, where he graduated magna cum laude.
Dr. Katrapati is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases and is a member of the American College of Cardiology. He is board eligible in interventional cardiology. He has specialized training in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and he is a registered physician in vascular interpretation.
Originally from the states of Michigan and Ohio, Dr. Katrapati is relocating to the Kansas City area with his wife, a native of Kansas, and his son. In his spare time, the doctor enjoys playing sports, watching movies and spending time with his family.
