Tramaine Smith has been named the new regional Patient Experience Manager/Coach for the Prime MOKAN region including Providence Medical Center, Saint John Hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center. He mostly recently held the position of Patient Experience Coordinator for St. Joseph Medical Center the past four years.
With more than 25 years of customer experience work, Tramaine has a positive attitude that embraces his outlook for the patient experience at the area four hospitals. In his expanded regional role, Tramaine is responsible for facilitating each phase of patient experience for the facilities; he serves as a topic expert and motivator in improved customer service and patient experience.
Before coming to St. Joseph Medical Center, Tramaine held a multitude of customer services roles with companies such as T-Mobile, ATT and Quest Diagnostic.
He said he was drawn to the healthcare field after a personal experience of helping to care for his wife’s grandma who had had a stroke. While raising a family, Tramaine says caring for their grandmother in his home for nearly five years gave him a new perspective on providing personalized care for patients.
“I gained a deep respect for what our nurses and doctors do to help our patients 24/7,” said Tramaine. “I love people and I’m looking forward to my expanded role with the Prime MOKAN hospitals.”
Outside work Tramaine has a busy life. He and his wife LaChandra have four children ages 13-24, two boys and two girls. He is a “Dotte” original graduating from Schlagle High School. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts/Sciences in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in economics. He has been a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Inc. since 1994. Tramaine is an avid NBA fan (Kobe Bryant was his favorite player and the Lakers are his favorite team). He and his family attend the New Day Apolostic Church in Kansas City, Missouri.
