This year marks a significant milestone for the Providence Wound Care Center, as it celebrates 10 years of dedicated service to Wyandotte County and surrounding communities. Since opening its doors in 2015, the center has provided life-changing wound care treatments, helping thousands of patients—many of whom face complications from diabetes and other chronic conditions—on their road to healing.
To commemorate this milestone, the Providence Wound Care Center is hosting a 10-Year Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, May 29, at 8919 Parallel Parkway, in Suite 121, Kansas City, KS. The event is open to healthcare professionals, community members, and former patients to reflect on the center’s impact and the advancements in wound care over the past decade.
A Community Lifeline for Providence Wound Care Center
Located in Wyandotte County, an area with a high prevalence of diabetes, the Providence Wound Care Center has played a crucial role in preventing serious complications such as infections and amputations. Chronic wounds, particularly diabetic foot ulcers, can be difficult to treat and often lead to severe consequences if not properly managed. The center offers cutting-edge treatments and personalized care plans, to promote faster healing and improve patient outcomes.
“Our goal has always been to provide high quality, professional care and education to help patients avoid severe complications,” said Gregg D. Morris RN, CWCN, OMS, Director of Providence Wound Care. “Over the past 10 years, we’ve seen incredible success stories and, limb saving treatments. We remain committed to serving our patients and our community for many more years to come.”
For KCK resident Nate Brown, having the Providence Wound Care Center nearby has been lifesaving. As a trucker for more than 40 years, Nate suffered a severe foot injury last fall when his 18-wheeler ran over his foot during an accident at work. After receiving initial care in Texas, he returned home to Kansas City, where his wife took him to Providence Medical Group-Family Care. He was then referred to Providence Wound Care Center, where he found compassionate, expert care.
“The care here is really good, and everyone is so friendly—the physicians, nurses, and staff. I truly appreciate being in their care,” said Nate Brown. Mr. Brown was recently healed and released from care from the Providence Wound Care Center.
Providence Wound Care Center Looking Ahead
As Providence Wound Care Center enters its second decade, the team remains focused on expanding access to specialized wound care and continuing its mission to improve the quality of life for those in need. With diabetes rates remaining high in the region, the center’s work is more critical than ever.
“We’re grateful for the trust and support of our patients and community,” said Karen Orr, RN, MSN, MBA, Chief Executive Officer. “This anniversary isn’t just about celebrating our past—it’s about looking ahead to a future where we continue to make a difference in people’s lives.”
In addition to the anniversary celebration, Providence Medical Center and Providence Wound Care Center will be initiating the start of their community Diabetes Health Education Clinic that will start July 1st, 2025.
