Rick Coffman, RN, BSN, MBA, CNOR, has been named the new Director of Surgery at Providence Medical Center. An experienced healthcare professional, Rick has extensive leadership and operational experience.
Rick received a Master of Business Administration and a Master Level Certificate in Health Services Management from Keller Graduate School of Management, Kansas City, MO. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mid-America Nazarene University, Olathe, KS. He also attended the Naval School of Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD, where he achieved training for Operating Room Technician and Hospital Corpsman.
With more than 23 years of experience in Nursing, he has held several Director of Surgical Services roles at hospitals varying in scope of responsibility in the Kansas City and Dallas, Texas areas as well as executive and administrative positions.
“There are strong leaders with a lot of great ideas here at Providence,” said Rick ”We have a good foundation in the Surgery department which I hope to expand and build upon.”
Rick serves in the US Navy Reserves as a Captain in the Nurse Corps. He served as the Operating Room Department Head in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 2014. In 2021, he was the Chief Nursing Officer, and Officer in Charge in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He served as Team Lead for the Navy Medicine Support Team in 2020 at Harlem Hospital, NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem, New York, NY.
Rick is a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses (CNOR).
He and his wife Malana have two grown daughters and enjoy traveling.
